China’s Galvanized Square Tube Sector Sees Strong Growth Driven by New Energy Booming in 2026

China’s hot-dip galvanized square tube industry has maintained steady development in the first half of 2026, with output growing moderately and structural transformation accelerating against the backdrop of rising demand from emerging sectors such as photovoltaic power generation and new energy infrastructure. Industry data shows that the output of hot-dip galvanized square tube in China increased by 4.2% year-on-year in the first five months of 2026, with customized products for new energy sectors growing by more than 18%, becoming the core growth engine of the whole industry.

Against the background of national ultra-low emission transformation requirements, small-scale workshop production lines are accelerating to exit the market, and industry concentration continues to improve. At present, North China, centered on Tianjin, Hebei and Shandong, has gathered more than 60% of the country’s production capacity, forming a complete industrial cluster covering raw material supply, automated production and logistics distribution. Leading enterprises in the region have completed the upgrading of continuous hot-dip galvanizing production lines, achieving closed-loop automatic control of zinc pot temperature and kiln atmosphere, which greatly improved the uniformity of zinc layer and product quality stability.

The booming of ground-mounted photovoltaic power stations in central and western China has brought huge market demand for high-standard hot-dip galvanized square tubes. According to industry standards, photovoltaic brackets require hot-dip galvanized square tubes to meet the anti-corrosion level of 25-year service life, and the zinc layer thickness must not be less than 65 microns. Many production enterprises have launched customized products for photovoltaic scenarios, which have achieved good market response. Henan, as a central logistics hub, has formed a regional supply network integrating production resource integration, storage and distribution, and pre-processing, which can quickly meet the centralized procurement demand of large photovoltaic projects, and the supply volume in the first half of the year increased by 23% year-on-year.

Driven by market demand, the technical upgrading of the industry is also accelerating. Leading enterprises have increased R&D investment, and developed gradient zinc layer technology that can be adjusted according to different application scenarios, with the zinc layer thickness covering 10 microns to 120 microns, meeting the differentiated needs of construction curtain walls, mechanical equipment manufacturing, municipal facilities and other fields. At the same time, more and more enterprises extend from simple pipe supply to integrated services such as component pre-processing, anti-corrosion scheme design and logistics distribution, which helps downstream engineering parties reduce secondary processing costs and shorten construction cycles.

Looking forward to the second half of 2026, industry insiders predict that the demand for hot-dip galvanized square tubes will remain strong, and the growth momentum of demand in emerging fields such as new energy vehicle battery brackets, coastal wind power supporting facilities and export infrastructure projects will be particularly significant. It is expected that the annual output growth of the whole industry will remain between 3% and 5%, and the proportion of high-value customized products will further increase, driving the industry to continue to move towards high-quality development.
